# Copilot Ask Mode

In Ask Mode, you can get answers and insights in two ways:

1. **General questions:** Type any question to receive information on a wide range of topics.
2. **Context-specific questions:** Highlight text in your document, then ask about that selection to get tailored answers

Here are some examples:

* "What are best practices for API documentation?"
* Select code and ask "What does this function do?"
* Select a diagram and ask "How can I improve this flowchart?"
